      • a cv (max 10 lines)
      • (optional) - in 3 sentences say why you should get one of the 3 sponsored booths

Please note: 30th August is the new Deadline for Submissions

The idea is to move this year's JOBURG FRINGE over to Sandton, to be in proximity to the
Joburg Art Fair. In walking distance, literally, making it dead simple for visitors and gallerists to find the good stuff.
We are keeping the space rent the same as last year, but space is precious in Sandton, so it is likely that there will be smaller area for each exhibitor. Something to bear in mind as you prepare for the submission deadline:
Friday 30th August 2013

Once again the Joburg Fringe will hold the special show:VIDEOart!

VIDEOart! began as a special event on the Joburg Fringe in 2010, and has been held each year since.
VIDEOart! was invited by the young artist association D21 in Leipzig, and in 2011 by
Hauptstadtkulturfond Berlin and 7hours Haus19, where it formed the core of the video
exhibition titled Agter die Berge.

In 2012 VIDEOart! was curated by Kevin Yates of AFDA CT put together a group of seven experimental films collectively titled Of Gravity and Life: A Selection of AFDA CT.
In 2011 the curation of VIDEOart! was a gem show by Aryan Kaganof - a project of African Noise Foundation, titled UNTHEMED:

Aryan Kaganof: "This curation is, on advice from Claudia Shneider, UNTHEMED. It simply slaps together the most impressive work in video I have seen by South African artists in the year since the previous Joburg Fringe. It is a very South African intervention.
Here is the list of the video artists and their work. Length of the curated video art show is in all 78min."

NICOLA DEANE - in media res (8mins)
CECILIA FERREIRA - biology fast, cunt (second version), she loves literature but she hates to read,
black bird, three dreams (all tog. 5mins)
CATHERINE HENEGAN - noisewomb (4mins)
STACY HARDY - i love you jet li (12mins)
LERATO SHADI - 50G (28mins)
ROBYN NESBITT - not today, but tomorrow, in the garden, pretend to sleep, flowers for cynthia, still life studies, family portrait, august series

In 2010 VIDEOart! was curated by Claudia Shneider and comprised 24 video artists working locally and internationally. The videos were shown at various venues around the city during the time of the Joburg Fringe and the Joburg Art Fair.

The venues included The Bioscope, Canteen at Arts on Main, The Bag Factory, Mofolo Art Centre Soweto, Anglo Gold Ashanti and a Sandton venue. The spread of venues ensured that the videos were viewed by as many people as possible across Joburg’s huge area.
